We Are Looking Back To What We Left Behind When We Set Out On The Way Of DISCIPLESHIP 10. When we begin to value material possessions more than people, especially the people with whom we share our lives most completely. 9. When we find ourselves thinking “I” instead of “WE” in our spiritual lives. 8. When we place self-seeking above self-sacrifice. 7. When we regret that others seem to have a more interesting or important part to play in building God’s kingdom, God’s rule, in this world. 6. When we lament the fact that the church has so many lukewarm and imperfect members, maybe even some hypocrites. 5. When we believe that prayer is a useless waste of time. 4. When, in St. Paul’s words, we “submit to the yoke of slavery,” becoming slaves to fear, bad habits, grudges, spiritual stubbornness. 3. When we place out trust in power or status in this world. 2. When we pass judgment on our sisters and brothers. And finally, sign number ten, that we are looking back to what we have left behind: 1. When we become proud of our supposed spiritual accomplishments for God. Borrowed from Fr. Michael Kwatera, O.S.B. |
